Commitment to Connect – 15th October, Edinburgh

Scotland is a peripheral nation in Europe. Although we have a well developed transport system, recent studies show that other countries are catching up.

How can Scotland once again be a leader?

What steps are needed to gain traction to deliver the physical and digital connections?

STSG is organizing a half day seminar to review how Scotland can deliver the connections. Presentations will cover:

  • Power to Connect – Ben Thomson Chair of the think tank Reform Scotland will outline proposals for a transport super-hub as part of a vision to give the country one of the best transport networks in the world. Ben is one of Scotland's leading business personalities and is also Chair of Noble Group Investment Bank.
  • Business Needs and High Speed Rail - Graham Bell of Edinburgh Chamber of Commerce will explain why Scotland's capital city needs faster rail connections
  • Digital Connections, Infrastructure and Transport – Recent research will be described showing how the digital economy is changing transport markets with high speed connections.
  • Do we really need a High Speed Railway to Scotland? - David Spaven of Deltix Transport Consulting will present evidence from his recent analysis of the Impact of High Speed Rail on the Environment. .
